The Monterey County Herald Herald Staff Report Posted: 05/17/2012 01:00:52 PM PDT Updated: 05/17/2012 10:51:50 PM PDT A Carmel Valley mother of two who disappeared Monday while walking her dog was found alive Thursday morning and airlifted to a San Francisco Bay Area trauma center. Janice "Jan" Marasco, 54, was dehydrated, with bumps and scrapes, but was in stable condition when she was found a quarter-mile up a private driveway off Robinson Canyon Road in Carmel Valley at 10:10 a.m. Search teams had been looking since Monday evening for Marasco, who was last seen walking her dog near Mid-Valley Shopping Center about 1 p.m. that day. After neighbors found the dog running loose that evening, her son filed a missing person report. Deputies said Wednesday that Marasco suffers from early-onset dementia and Alzheimer's disease, and that her medical condition may have caused her to become lost. She was found by a team that included search and rescue personnel from Monterey, Santa Clara, Marin, San Mateo, San Luis Obispo and Santa Cruz counties. |
