SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. —After missing for almost 24 hours, a 21-year-old woman who was lost in a forest is back with her family.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said the woman disappeared about 2 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said she had been attending a conference at the Bosch Bahal Conference Center on Comstock Lane.

Deputies said that after returning from an outing, the woman went for a walk on a familiar walking path because she wasn't feeling well.

By nightfall, rescue crews said the woman had become disoriented and was unable to find her way back to camp. After continuing for about a half-mile, she had to seek shelter because of the weather.

Search crews were called out to look for the woman by about 7 p.m. that day.

She was found about 11:30 a.m. Monday by a search and rescue team on motorcycles in a heavily wooded forest.

Paramedics said the woman suffered from slight exposure during her ordeal.

She was reunited with her parents who came in from Los Angeles after being alerted to her disappearance.
